Science of Reading in the Classroom

I will start with a brief look at the SoR research and two important SoR models, The Simple View of Reading and Scarborough's Reading Rope. The majority of the presentation will be practical application. The National Reading Panel outlined 5 pillars of literacy; we will discuss each of the pillars plus a sixth important component, background knowledge. We will discuss practical ideas for including each of the pillars in the classroom.It is my hope that you will walk away with something to try with your class on Monday.
